Core Courses Laboratory Courses Elective Courses Team Projects Seminars and Field Trips Online Course Material | Students select one team project from either the discrete sciences (biology, chemistry, or physics), mathematics, or computer science or an interdisciplinary project. Team research projects involve the investigation of an original problem or the solution of a problem by techniques original to the investigation. Students choose an area of science for their project and faculty suggest specific possible projects in these areas. Interested students form teams. Although faculty are available for initial direction and advice, most of the accomplishments come from the students own initiative. The team project is a collaborative research experience which culminates in an exhibition of student learning. The exhibition includes a formal scientific oral presentation at the PGSS Scientific Symposium which is open to guests and the entire program and campus community. The exhibition also includes a written report which is published in the annual PGSS journal. It is expected that the written reports meet accepted standards of clarity, style, and originality to be worthy of publication. The research fields for the suggested team projects for this year:
